The Machete Survival knife looks akin to a cleaver, but is also thick giving it the feel of a machete. The SP8 Machete Survival knife also has medium "teeth" (top serrations) on the spine of the long blade, making it ideal for sawing. Of all the Next Generation Spec Plus Knives, the SP8 Machete Survival knife is the only Spec Plus knife that features a singular guard (Front Quillon) on the grip and a choil on the blade. A flat wedge style tip coupled with the lack of rear quillon (guard) allows the SP8 Machete Survival Knife to be handled similar to a saber grip and used for prying. With all the possible applications, it is easy to see why Ontario refers to this knife as the Machete Survival knife. The SP8, Machete Survival Knife is 15.125" in overall length. The 10" blade is full tang 1095 Carbon Steel (.250" thick) with an epoxy powder coating. The SP8 Machete Survival Knife features a comfortable Kraton handle with a secure grip. The SP8 Machete Survival Knife comes with a combination leather/cordura sheath with a lanyard. The Ontario (manufacturer) part number for the SP8 Mahcete Survival knife is 8335. The Ontario Spec Plus 8 (SP8) Machete Survival knife is made in the USA.
