I should have read reviews before purchasing. The backpack DOES NOT have padded waist straps. I'm going to have to fashion something so the straps don't dig into my stomach while hiking. Other than that it's a decent pack.

First thing, the backpack is fairly good quality for the price from what I can see. However, the item was not as described. The picture shows padded waist straps, however there is nothing more than a nylon strap that clips around the waist. The picture also shows straps for sleeping pads and the description also says "Full-length bottom compression straps for securing gear such as sleeping pads". There are no straps that I can see for a sleeping pad. NOTES FROM ARMY SURPLUS WORLD: Thank you for your review. The straps are integrated into the clips for the top cover. From there, they can been extended, retracted and cinched into place to hold a sleeping pad.
