The Air Force Presidential Unit Citation is awarded to units who demonstrate exceptional heroism in action against an armed enemy. Requirements include that the unit must "display such gallantry, determination, and Espirit De Corps in accomplishing its mission under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions as to set it apart from and above other units in the same campaign.". Originally known as the Distinguished Unit Citation, the name wasn't changed until the November 3, 1966.
