The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal is a decoration authorized for service members who served in the War on Terror, deployed on or after September 11, 2001. Service members must have served at least 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days of duty within a designated anti-terrorism operation to be eligible for these military medals, though service time may be waived if a service member participated in active combat or they required medical attention after being wounded; they may also be awarded posthumously.
