Hurricane Lantern
The tank is vented through the metal arms to keep the flame steady during strong winds, which is why it is called a Hurricane Lantern! Speed of evaporation of the fuel is dependent on what fuel you use, Kerosene or Paraffin oil.

If I knew it was a Rothco before ordering
I would not have ordered it. One test I do on a kerosene lamp is to fill it about 1/4 to 1/3 the way and see how long the lamp oil escapes via evaporation. It did not take long. Won't repeat.

The tank that holds the fuel is not airtight and one does leak slightly.
No funnel was included which I've seen in the past with these. The fact that the tank is not airtight means the fuel will evaporate quickly so don't fuel it up until ready for use.
