Additional awards of the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal are denoted with oak leaf clusters. The Air Reserve Meritorious Service Medal was created in 1964 as the "Air Force Reserve Ribbon", then in 1971 the decoration evolved into a full sized medal with its current name.
