The four leaves of the main design reference the unit's numerical designation. The leaves also form a visual pun as the word, "Ivy," sounds similar to "IV," the roman numerical representation for four. Ivy leaves are traditionally symbolic of loyalty and perseverance. You can add this patch to a black hat if you so choose.
